The Sep Notice

To whom it may concern;

This letter is to officially give my two week notice to Best Buy, effective on December 11, 2004, in order to pursue a job opportunity with Citizens Bank. I would also request that all unpaid personal hours are paid into my final paycheck. I also feel as though I should explain the reason why.

The first is the store's unfair treatment of women. This can be illustrated simply by the ratios of women on the sales floor, in operation and in leadership. While I cannot agree with {the general manager} on everything, at least he attempted to move women foreward in this truly masculine environment.

Secondly, it seems as though I was promoted to supervisor as a place holder for another candidate that needed to be given time to relocate. I do not feel it is fair to put someone in a position and not train them adequestly enough and then give them an ultimatum where they either lose their status or their job entirely for no clear reason. I chose to step down not because I didn't think I could handle the job - the numbers clearly show that - but because if I had stayed in position I would have been terminated for things I could never control. Between this and the treatment I recieved from a small part off the managment staff, I did not feel safe continuing here.

The third and final reason is my family. There have been a countless number of times that I have had to choose work over my family due to work not letting me have the appriopriate time off - even with plenty of qualified people to "fill my shoes" in my absence. I understand this is retail and that the hours are tough, but for a company that claims to have such high ethis, it is this piece that saddens me the most.

However, even with these low points it should be made clear that I did enjoy most of my time here at Best Buy. There are many here that will be missed - included a good part of the management staff, and I do thank them for time well spent.

Sincerly, ME
